ISABELLE is the daughter of King GARRICK GRAYRAVEN, the lord of Grayraven castle and the entire Berkshire region of Ryntia. ISABELLE'S mother, Queen KERIN GRAYRAVEN, died when ISABELLE was nineteen, victim to the BLOODREAVERS at the battle of IRONGATE. Her mother was a priestess in the ORDER OF THE ROSE, who used their healing powers to aid the knights of the realm during times of war. However, beyond her magical powers, KERIN was also formidable with a sword.

When the battle against the BLOODREAVERS took a turn for the worst, she left the safety of the order and entered the fray alongside the King to defend the realm. When the battle subsided the Queen was nowhere to be found, but her sword was lodged in the chest of UN'DRETH, the mighty BLOODREAVER general who led the attack. The King was devastated. He felt responsible for his wife's death. He returned to the castle with the sword and gave it to ISABELLE as a symbol of her mother's bravery and sacrifice.

ISABELLE had already been indoctrinated into the ORDER OF THE ROSE because she too had a connection to the gods that allowed her to magically heal wounds. But her mother's death made her question her faith and in her mourning, she began practicing swordsmanship and other combative arts in the hopes that she could one day extinguish the threat of the BLOODREAVERS once and for all.

Although he understands her pain, the King believes the best way for ISABELLE to honor her mother is to serve the ORDER OF THE ROSE until his death, when it will be her duty to serve as Queen of the Grayraven kingdom.
